2024 Book Awards

Hello babes, and happy 2025! As the year has ended, I can finally announce that I read 75 books in 2024. Crazy. There wera a lot of good books, and some bad ones, but here’s some awards. (Haley Pham was the first person I saw to give out her book awards, so I borrowed her categories. )

Note: If you are reading on a mobile device, the formatting might be a little strange because I am technologically challenged. ;)

Best Cover

Winner - Out On a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young

I’m obsessed with this cover and the story. The beautiful scene on the cover is such a great representation of how beautifully the book is written. I love that it also features both of the character’s limb differences.

Honorable Mentions -

Most Shocking Plot Twist

Winner - Daisy Darker by Alice Feeny

I’m officially declaring Alice Feeny the queen of plot twists. Everyone knows she does the best unreliable narrator, but this one was on a whole other level. It had me turning the pages back to check how I missed it and if it was even possible.

Honorable Mentions -

Best Banter

Winner - The Stalking Jack the Ripper Series by Kerri Maniscalco

Came for the mystery, stayed for Thomas Cresswell. This series easily contains my favorite banter of the year. The male love interest is so witty and has so much chemistry with the female love interest. I also loved how much he supported her career and let her take the lead in their endeavors.

Honorable Mentions -

Most Beautiful Setting

Winner - These Fleeting Shadows by Kate Alice Marshall

I picked this one up on a whim because it was available on Libby. I read it on a long car ride and was just addicted to the story. It is so atmospheric, and I’m a sucker for a creepy, haunted mansion.

Honorable Mentions -

Funniest book

Winner - Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson

This was annother book that I randomly decided to pick up. Stevenson has such a unique writing style, and I was full on laughing out loud the whole book. I’m definitely going to read more Humor Murder Mysteries in 2025.

Honorable Mentions -

Best Quotes

Winner - Smoke Gets in Your Eyes & Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty

This is a book I will never fail to recommend to everyone I meet. Doughty is such an amazing writer, and the message will stay with me for years. I usually am not drawn to non-fiction, but this memoir is one of my favorite reads of all time.

Honorable Mentions -

Saddest Book

Winner - The Boys of Tommen Series by Chloe Walsh

I don’t often cry over books, but this whole series had me absolutely sobbing. In addition to the saddest moments, it also had the cutest romance. I need to reread these asap.

Honorable Mentions -

Best Escapism

Winner - Phantasma by Kaylie Smith

I totally binged this book because it was so addictive. The vibes were so atmospheric, and I felt so immersed in the gothic setting. The romance was also amazing. It had me giggling and kicking my feet.

Honorable Mentions -

Weirdest Book

Winner - The Mindf*ck Series by S. T. Abby

A serial killer dating an FBI agent is a concept that I did not see coming this year, and the fact that she’s the serial killer makes it that much better. This series was just crazy after crazy after crazy.
